  • The Conversation Begins

    Loss, Discovery, Indignation and Hope - new series 2009

    This series explores human emotions that define our development. The Conversation Begins with ideas, some realized others unseen. As it continues reality and fiction collide in conscious bubbles of thought.

    In Loss, Discovery carries the weight of our experience either creating change or escaping like sand held between fingers. This is the Seed (the darker the soil the richer its growth). Dark soil, full of decomposition is the building blocks needed for strong roots. At times the flowers are cut by The Sharp Edge of Love. Only through harmony of The Elements can a life be Touched and together Rise in Hope of another life better than our own.

    I have chosen to draw the figures based on Fibonacci's sequence also known as the "golden Mean". The pattern spirals, beginning and ending at the eye. As we engage this life filled with contradiction, uncertainty and confusion, mathematical sequence recreates order and simple shapes remind lines that no matter how inter wound, once unraveled each has a starting point and end.

    Ensemble - new series 2009

    Use of newsprint gives a glimpse of bands, musicians and music of our time. Some are relatively unknown, possibly at the moment of a breakthrough, others are standards we have seen for many years slowly creeping into the pop iconography. The images encapsulate a free moment of time, and uses it to create an individual piece with eyes and figures watching as well as being seen.
